Philanthropic Initiatives

Enriching society, both materially and spiritually is one of the key
principles of the Mitsubishi creed. In keeping with this, MHIA supports
initiatives that positively impact communities in the U.S. and abroad.

Mitsubishi Dream & Soar: Youth in Aviation

For example, our partnership with Barrington Irving (Link to:
http://www.experienceaviation.org), the youngest person and the first
African American pilot to fly solo around the world led to the creation of
the Mitsubishi Dream & Soar: Youth in Aviation in 2007. The Dream & Soar
initiative exposes young students across the U.S. to careers in aviation by
showcasing Irving's inspirational story. Only 23-years-old pilot when he
embarked on his solo voyage, Irving spent 97 days on his history-making
global flight. He has received numerous U.S. and international awards for
his role-model-for-youth initiatives.

Haiti Earthquake

In January of 2010, the world was stunned when a devastating earthquake hit
Haiti. MHIA moved to action coordinating the donation of life saving
supplies to Haiti from Miami, Florida with private owners and operators of
MU-2 planes, Mitsubishi's turboprop aircraft; Operation USA; Barrington
Irving; and Relief International. MHIA donated the use of a 767 jumbo jet
packed with power generators, light towers, food, medical supplies.

Irving, who is of Caribbean descent and a Miami resident, was instrumental
in galvanizing aid through Relief International which provided vital
supplies for the airlift.

"The earthquake disaster particularly hit home for us because we are an
American company with Japanese roots and Japan has experienced first-hand
the devastation earthquake brings. Additionally, we have Haitians on our
team who were affected by this disaster," said Noel Takayama, MHIA General
Manager for Aircraft Product Support commenting on the donation.

MHIA was also quick to donate supplies to victims of Hurricane Katrina in
2005 and to victims of Hurricanes Ike and Gustav.
